Overexpression of Mutant P₅₃ Protein is Associated with Gastric Carcinoma Metastasising to Oemote Rrgans

We have studied the expression of P₅₃ in 62 patients with gastric carcinomas. A standard immunohistochemical technique employing the anti P₅₃ monoclonal antibody (Pab1801) was applied to the routinly fixed and paraffin-embedded material from these tumors. These data suggest that the overexpression of the P₅₃ oncoprotein is an independent marker for poor prognosis in gastric patients.
