Abstract
Objective The purpose of the research is to compare the effects in the treatment of advanced stage gastric carcinoma respectively by arterial perfusion and by intravenous injection with FAM program. Methods Forty three patients with advanced stage gastric carcinoma were randomly divided into two groups. Both groups, given approximately the same dosages, were treated with FAM program.Twenty two patients were in the arterial perfusion group and twenty one were in the intravenous injection group. Results The general alleviation rate for the arterial perfusion group was 18.2%(4/22) and the overall effective rate was 68.2%(15/22),while the general alleviation rate for the intravenous injection group was 9.5%(2/21) and the overall effective rate was 38.1%(8/21).The difference between the overall effective rates of the two groups was significant (χ2=3.9031;P<0.05).The subsistence periods of two groups were respectively 8 months and 6.5months without any statistic significance. In terms of the inhibition rate on bone marrow, the two groups had no difference.Besides, the patients just had very slight gastric and intestinal reactions. Conclusion The arterial perfusion group treated with FAM program for advanced staged gastric carcinoma had higher local control rate than the intravenous injection group, but the two groups had no significant difference in subsistence period
