Abstract
Objective:To improve the diagnosis rate of senile patients with early esophageal carcinoma and evaluate the effect of surgical treatment.M ethed:The clinical data of 25 cases of senile patients with early esophageal carcinoma received surgical treatment from Mar.1975 to Jan. 1997, were analyzed retrospectively.Result:The resection rate was 100%. The total rate of postoperative complications was 4.0%.The operative mortality rate was 0%.The 3-,5-and 10-year survival rate was 88.9%(16/18),80.0%(8/10)and 71.4%(5/7)respectively. Conclusion:The diagnosis rate could be improved by paying attention to the clinical complaints of early esophageal carcinoma and complex analyzing the results of examinations.It is thought that operative treatment of early esophageal carcinema must be suggested.
