Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlation between the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in TNRC9 rs12443621 and breast cancer risk in a hospital-based Chinese population. Methods Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood lymphocytes. Polymerase chain reaction-ligation detection reaction (PCR-LDR) was used to type 321 breast cancer cases and 330 controls. The correlation between the single nucleotide polymorphisms in TNRC9 rs3803662 and breast cancer risk and clinic-pathological parameters in Chinese women was analysed. The odd-ratios (OR)and 95% confidence intervals(CI)were calculated by unconditional Logistic regression model. Results The frequencies of SNPs rs12443621 GG, AG, and AA genotypes were 35.6%, 46.3%, and 18.1% in cases and 33.1%, 48.1%, and 18.8% in controls, respectively. No significant correlation between the TNRC9 SNP rs12443621 polymorphisms and ages, lymph node metastases, hormone receptor status was noted. Conclusion Rs12443621 polymorphism in TNRC9 gene was not associated with breast cancer susceptibility or clinic-pathological parameters in Chinese population.
