Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the expression of neurotensin receptor1 (NTR1) in ductal carcinoma in situ(DCIS) and invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), and their relationships with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis of breast cancer. Methods Immunohistochemical SP method was applied to detect the expression and location of NTR1 in the breast tissues from 128 IDC patients and 60 DCIS patients, and the relationship with clinicopathologic parameters was analyzed. Results NTR1 expression was observed in the cytoplasm of cancer cells. The expression of NTR1 in IDC and DCIS were 71.1%(91/128) and 53.3%(32/60)(P<0.05). NTR1 expression was associated with histological grade, maximum tumor diameter and lymph node status in IDC(P<0.05), but not with age, tumor size, family history, TNM stage or menopausal status(P>0.05). Patients with NTR1 positive expression had higher recurrence rate than negative ones. Kaplan-Meier univariate analysis revealed NTR1 positive expression had signifi cance for survival time. Cox model analysis revealed NTR1 positive expression was a dangerous factor for independent prognosis of IDC. Conclusion NTR1 may have a promoting effect on the occurrence and development of breast cancer, and could be an important index for clinical diagnosis and prognosis of breast cancer.
