Abstract
Metoclopramide was used as a antiemetic in 2813 Patients. Extrapyramidal syndromes were noted in 26 cases and the incidence rate was0.29%. Thosesyndromes included spasmodic torticollis.12(46%) cases; parkinsons tremor, 6 (23%); tongue extension-a kind of the pseudobulbar paralysis, 4(15.4%); tonoclonic mouth-open or gnathospasmus, 4 (15.4%). All above-mentioned adverse reactions discontinued soon after withdrawal and treatment with valium. The mechanisms of intoxication and detoxication are discussed in this paper.
