Preliminary study on a lung cancer associated neutral glycosphingolipids

  • The neutral glycosphingolipids (N-GSL) from the tissues of lung cancer, embryonic lung and normal lung was analysised. The results of high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) plates showed that on lung cancer tissue there is an increased expression of ceramide dihexoside(CDH), an decreased expression of ceramide trihexoside (CTH) and ceramide monohexoside(CMH) comparison with normal lung tissue. On the embryonic lung tissue, the glycosphingolipids was mainly found to be Globcer. The expression of some neutral glycosphingolipids with long saccharides chain on tumor tissue was found to be related with the pathological type and cell differentiation of lung cancer Further analysis of this neutral glycosphingolipids might be helpful to study on carcinogenesis, differentiation and diagnosis of lung cancer.
