Abstract
We reviewed 10 cages of endometrial stromal tumorg treated in Cancer Institute (Hospital), Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from 1958 to 1988. All 10 patients had endolymphatic stromal myosis (ESM) (Low-grade endometrial stromal tumors). Mean age was 40.5 years. Eight patients were stage Ⅰ, one patient was stage Ⅱ and one patient had stage Ⅲ disease. Laparotomies revealed extrauterine spread in five patients wish stage Ⅰ or Ⅱ. Primary surgery was received, in all 10 patienst. Total abdominal hysterecsomy aodbilateral salpingo-oophorectomy was performed in 8 patients. Following hysterectomy; 8 patients received various adjuvant therapies. Twn Patients had recurrences at 4-yeart and 10 years after primary therapy respectively, and receivedtchometherapy crradiation. Objective responses were attained and the survival following treatment of recurrent disease was 2 years and 6 years respectively. It shows that even ESM is a malignant disease clinically but is a low-grade malignant tumor histologically, Treatment has been primarly surgical as well as adjuvant radiation and chemotherapy. Long period follow-up should be recommended.
