ANALYSIS OF 1513 CASES OF TUMORS AND TUMORLIKE LESIONS OF BONE

  • A study of 1513 cases of tumors and tumorlike lesions of bone, including be nigh tumors 907 cases (59.95%), malignant tumors 450 eases(29.74%)and tumorlike lesions 156 cases (10.31%, the age-range of incidence was 11-40 years, male female(2.28: 1) Although the femur, tibia and humerus are the more frequent site of predileetion, the frequency of other skeletal involvement was quite different according to various types of bone tumors or tumorlike lesions. Among benign tumors, osteoehondroma is the most common, giant-cell tumor in the second. Among malignant tumors, the most common is ostoosarcoma, then follows the chondrosarcoma, metastatic carcinoma, Ewings sarcoma, myeloma, fibrosarcoma, malignant giant-cell tumor, chordoma, Juxtacortical osteogenic sarcoma, reticulum-cell sarcoma in declining order. Tumorlike lesions of bone include eosinophilic granuloma, fibrous dysplasia, solitary bone cyst and aneurysmal bone cyst.
