ANALYSIS OF 361 OF THE CASTRIC CARDIA RADICALLY CURED THROUGH 2 OPERATIVE MODES

From June 1984 to June 1988, operations for the radical cure of carcinoma the gastricc cardia totaling 361 cases were performed in our institution，using the transthoracic mode (Mode I or the( transabodominothoracic mode; (Mode II). By comparison, Mode II was superior to mode I, for it could thoroughly clear to the lymph nodes. The 3-year survival rate seen in the stage-III patients of the Mode-II group was significantly higher that seen in the Mode-I group. This differnce was even more apparently shown by patients at the IV stage. We are of the opinion that the cure fate of cancer of the gastric cardia at stage II, III and IV can be eepeci;ed to raise when Mode-II operation is followed.
