DETECTION OF ANTIBODLES TO EPSTEL ON BARR VIRUS MEMBRANE ANTI GEN IN SERA FROM PATIENTS WITH NASOPHARYNGEAL CARCINOMA

  • IgG and IgA antibodies to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) membxane antigen (MA) were detected in sera f rom 109 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients and normal individuals by indirect isximuno-fluorescence test. For MA/IgG antibody, 100% of NPC patients were positive with a GMT of 1: 397.1 and 95.0% of normal individuals were positive with a GMT of 1: 92, 3. In contrast, for MA/IgA antiboby, 55.96% of NPC patients wexe positive with a GMT of 1:20.1 and none of the normal individuals were positive. There was difference in the detectiou of antibodies to EBV MA/IgA when who after preabsorption of sera with staphylococcus aureus (SPA).Our data indicate that preabsorption of sera with SPA renders the diagnostic test significantly more sensitive for the detection of the NPC and can be used for screening for patients.
