Abstract
Twenty-nine cases of carcinoma of the gallbladder and three cases of cholesterol polyps of thegallbladder were tested for ectopic production of HCG with anti-HCG antibody by PAP method. Among 29 cases circinoma of the gallbladder, 2 cases were classified as poorly differentiated and werepositive for HCG.Well or moderately differentiated groups and three cases of cholesterol poplypswere negtive. It is suggested that carcinoma of the gallbladder may produce HCG and HCG positivetumous tend to have higher malignancy and poor histological differentiation. The possible originand histogenesis of HCG-producing tumor cells are discussed.
