Differentiation of Primary 1Vtucinous Adenocarcinoma From Metastatic Adenocarcinoma of the Ovary

  • His difficuty to distinguish primary mucinous adenocarcinoma of ovary from metastatic ade-nocarcinoma from colorectal adenocarcinoma, especially when the patients suffer from ovary and bowie cancer simultaneous. At present, the criteria of distinguishing between the two kinds of cu-mors have not been established. So, to obtain comparable and reproducible results .mucihistoche-mistry (HID-AB, GoS,ConA) was used to observe the two kinds of tumors. The characteristics of primary mucinous adenocarcinoma of ovary are as follows:1.Abundant mucus, mainly tom-posed of sialomucin.2.Characteristic mucus of gastric foveola epithelium or pyloric gland. The results suggest that mucin histochemistry can be used to distinguish primary mucinous adenocarcinoma of the ovary from metastatic adenocarcinoma o( colorectal cancer.
