Clinical significance of VCA/IgA antibody assay in the diagnosis and procnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma-An analysis of 106 cases

Abstract
106 Patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma were assayed by VCA/IgA antibody before ra-diotherapy. Altogether, 84. 0% Patients were found positive to VCA/IgA antibody. The positive rates of VCA/IgA antibody in T,-T, were 50. 0% ,73. 3 % ,85.4% and 96.8% ,respectively. At the end of radiotherapy, the positive rates of VCA/IgA antibody in patients with disappear of lo-cal nasopharynx and cervical lymph, disappear of local and remains of cervical lymph, remains of local and cervical lymph,distant metastases were 44. 8% ,70. 0%, 80.0% and 100.0%, respective-1y (P<0.05). This results showed that VCA/IgA assay may be valuble to the diagnosis and prognosis of NPC.
