  • Etoposide (VP16) is an unitary effective medicine to treat carcinoma of stomach. In order to probe the posibility of oral administration of it, between June, 1995 and Octobe, 1996, we adopted combined chemotherapy to treat 57 patients suffered from carcinoma of stomach. All of cases were confirmed by histopathology and the patients were randomly divided into two groups. The combined chemotherapy program wsa composed of etoposide, adriamycin and cisplatin. In it, etoposide was given by means of oral administration and intravenous drip. The effective rates of twogroups were 46.4% and 51.7% respectively and their toxic reaction were similar, So, we considered that etoposide could be given by orsl administration to treat carcinoma of stomach.
