Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of the treatment for advanced and recurrent ovarian cancer with superelective catheterization of internal iliac arteries and the factors influencing therapeutic effect. Methods: The arterial perfusion chemotherapy and embolization by superelective catheterization of both internal iliac arteries on 31 patients with advanced and recurrent ovarian cancer have been completed for 83 times. Results: All cases were followed-up. A good short-term effectiveness was gained. The immediate effective rate was 77.4%. Conclusions: The superelective catheterization of internal iliac artery is a new and effective method for treatment of advanced and recurrent ovarian cancer. Factors influencing therapeutic effects were: (1) Whether or not superselection for catheterization. (2) Size and clinical stage of the tumour, and structural type of tumourous vasa. (3) Selection of drugs and embolic meteriats. (4) The status of the patients themselves.
