Polymorphisms of GSTT1 and M1 Genotypes and Their Effects on Elevated Aflatoxin Exposure and Increased Risk of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

  • Genotypes of GSTT1 and M1 were determined by PCR, and the level of aflatoxin B1-albumin adduots in serum samples was examined by ELISA in HCC patients and healthy controls recruited in three case-control studies, conducted in Hebei, Jiangsu and Guangxi, China. It was found that compared with those with non-null genotypes of both GSTT1 and M1, the odds ratios of developing HCC for those with null genotype of GSTT1 and null genotypes of both GSTT1 and M1 were 2.34(95%CI 1.01~5.46) and 3.43(95%CI 1.50~7.91), respectivly. It was also found that Astatistlcally significant biological gradient between serum level of AFBalbumin adducts and risk of HCC. These findings imply That Genotypes of GSTT1and M1 and AFB-HSA may be employed in screening the persons at risk of HCC.
