Local Excision for Tumors of the Papilla of Vater

Local resection of tumors of ampulla of Vater was performed in five cases.The average age was 63.8 years.All the patients were associated with severe concomitant diseases.The diameter of tumors were 0.5 to 3.Ocm.Pathological diagnosis:two of benign adenoma and three of adenocarcinoma.The morbidity rate was twenty per cent.There was no operative deaths in those patients.One adenocarcinoma was died of 19 months after surgery.1 survived well after 8 months, another patient was lost fullow-up.Two of benign adenoma survived well after six years and ten months respectively.We are of the opinion that local resection should be considered for small tumor of ampulla of Vater, specially for benign tumor or in highrisk patient who are not able to telerated a more radical procedure.The technique of local resection of tumor of papilla of Vater and reconstruction of the pancreaticobiliary were introduced in this essay.
