Stress ulcer after resections of carcinoma of esophagus and gastric cardia report of 9 cases & review of literature

Stress ulcer after resections of carcinoma of the esophagus and gastric cardia is a rare and serious complication.During past 20 years, 9 cases with stress ulcer happend in our department.The incidence was 0.22%(9/7454).Three cases deathed within 6 cases given medical treatment.Others were cured by operation.The bleeding occurred at the operative day should differentiated with stop bleeding not thorough during operation.That happend during later time after operation should differentiated with large artery-anastomotic leakage.At present, the mechanism of stress ulcer is not very clear.The principle of treatment is first conservative treatment.When it is not avail the operation must be given promptly.
