The clinicopathologic Characteristics of Colorectal carcinoma in Aged Patients

  • The clinicopathological characteristics of colorectal carcinoma in aged patients(>70)were analyzed in 51 cases from 1980 to 1993n our hospital.The result showed:1.It appears in men more often than women.The incidence increase with age.2.It begins with rectal bleeding, changes in bowel habits and obstruction.3.The disease tends to occur in the rectum.4.Better histopathological differentiation, low malignancy, low lymph or blood metastasis rate.5.More complications.Peritoneum implantation occurs easily.6.5-year survival rate was 34.1%.According to these characteristics, we suggest that operation should be based on full preoperative preparation and intensive postoperative care to increase the survival rate.
