Curative Effects of Preoperative Chemotherapy in the Treatment of Stage Ⅲ Operable Breast Cancer

  • Sixty-one patients with stage Ⅲ operable breast cancer were treated from Jan.1981to Dec, 1991.All patients were divided into preoperative chemotherapy group (36cases) and control group (25 cases). In the group of preoperative chemotherapy, nineteen patients were treated by trans-catheter intraarterial infusion, and seventeen patients were treated by venoclysis. The effective rate to preoperative chemotherapy intwo groups was 73.7% and 76.5% (P<0.05),respectively.The 5-year survival rate was68.4% and 70.6% (P<0.05),respectively.Total effective rate and 5-year survival rateof the preoperative chemotherapy were 75.0% and 69.4%, respectively. The 5-yearsurvival rate was higher than that of control group (36.0%,P<0.05).The results indicate that the preoperative chemotherapy on the prognosis of stage Ⅲ operable breastcancer has an important effect.
