Expression and significance of P16 protein in human pancreative carcinoma

  • The expression of P16 protein in 47 pancreative carcinoma was studied immunohistochemically, 26 cases showed positive staining of P16 protein (55.3%).These immunoreativities were most common in the cytopalsm of tumor cells. There was nosignificant relationship between the expression of P16 protein and tumor sizehistopathologic classification histologic grading or patient's sex and age. However, inverse relationships were observed between P16 protein expression and clinical stage(TNM) (P2 = 5.43, PO.05).Espression of p16protein was Positively associated withpost-operative survival (l year) and the relationship was significant (p= 0.043, P0.05).These results suggset that p16gene play an important role n antimetastasis ofpancreative carcinoma, and mayserve as a indictor to predict the prognosis of patients.
