Preliminary experience in HDR brachytherapy for local residul lesion of nasopharyngeal carcinoma after radical external radiotherapy

From July 1992 to Tuly 1995, 35 patients with local residul lesion of nasopharryngeal carcinoma (NPC) after radical extermal radiotherapy were treated with HDR brachytherapy. The dose of brachytherapy was DT12~18Gy/2~4F/Zweek. The 1-,3-year overall local control rate was 94.3%, 73.3%. The preliminary effects was satisfied.The complicatiom of radiotherapy were not seen. The authors believe that HDR brachytherapy is useful for residul NPC following radical external irradiation.
