Objective 　To investigate the component and the characteristics of all death causes mainly com2 prised of malignant tumors in population of Hubei Province. Methods 　The all death f rom 2004 to 2005 were investigated with the ret rospective sampling in 9 urban and rural surveyed locations. Results 　Total mortality of Hubei population was 5. 88. The main death were cerebrovascular diseases, malignant tumors, respiratory diseases, cardiac disease and injury and intoxicant, respectively. Conclusion 　The mor2 tality of cerebrovascular diseases and cancer, were on the first and second places, separately. The two dis2 eases caused more than 50 percent of the total number of urban and rural resident s deaths in Hubei Prov2 ince.
