The Effects of Hyperthermic and Hypotonic Solution in Combination with MMC in Mice Following Intraperitoneal Implantation of Ascitogenous Tumor Cells

  • Objective To evaluate the efficacy of hyperthermia and hypotonic solution in combination with antitumor drugs in mice implanted intraperitoneally with ascitogenous tumor cells. Methods The model of ascitogenous tumor cells of KM mice was used. The effects on interfering formation of ascitogenous tumor and inhibiting free cells in ascites and toxic effects were systematically observed after treated with different hyperthermic and hypotonic solution in combination with MMC. Results Compared with the control, the results showed that cancer cells in KM mice peritoneal cavity were seriously damaged with decreasing number and progression of their ascites formation, the survival days were prolonged, the percent of tumor cells in Sphase and DNA index(DI)decreased(P<0.05).However.the best treatment result was observed in mice receiving MMC in 43°C DDW. Conclusion Hypotonic solution, especially DDW,and hyperthermia containing chemotherapentic agent by Ip infusion may be a new available treatment of choice in the management of peritoneal carciomatosis in advanced digestive cancer patients.
