Objective To study the influence of the postoperative radiotherapy(PORT) on the local recurrent rate of rectal carcinoma . Methods All patients were treated by Mile, s or Dixon operations ; and randomized into two groups after operation, PORT group (58 cases) were given radiotherapy to a total dose of 45Gy in posterior field and both side field for 4.5～5 weeks, then followed by 10～15Gy, the other group (45 cases) were treated with only operation.
