Abstract
Objective To compare the immunoregulation effects and tumor inhibitions of Candida albicans(CA),Listeria monocytogenes(LM),and BCG which were used as adjuvents in the active specific immunotherapy of mice S-180 tumor. Methods S-180 tumor cells were treated with CA or LM and then prepared to vaccines(CA-S180 vaccine,LM-S180 vaccine).BCG-S180 vaccine was a mixture of formalin fixed tumor cell and BCG in proportion.Balb/c mice were inoculated with 1×105 S-180 tumor cells in footpads or in abdominal cavities followed by the immunotherapy of the described vaccines.IL-2,IFN-γ secreted by spleen cells and TNF-α secreted by peritoneal M of the immunized mice were determined. The weights of footpad tumors were recorded and the growth inhibitions were calculated. The average survival periods of tumor-bearing peritoneally mice were also reckoned. Results The levels of IL-2,IFN-γ,and TNF-α in group CA-S180,LM-S180,and BCG-S180 were much higher than that in control group S-180 and saline (P<0.01,0.05).The tumor growth in three groups was also inhibited with the range of 62.8%~75.8% inhibition ratios (P<0.01).The average survival period of mice in three groups enlonged to 7~14 days.CA-S180 vaccine and LM-S180 vaccine raised respectively the living ratios of tumor-bearing mice to 20% (2/8). Conclusion s These results indicated that Candida albicans,Listeria monocytogenes play a role in similar immunoenhance effects as BCG and inhibit effectively the growth of experimently transplanted tumor cooperating with S-180 vaccine
