Effects of Lentinan Intraperitoneal Perfusion and Local Radiofrequency Thermotherapy for Malignant Ascites

Objective 　The purpose of this study was to observe the clinical effect s of the combined t reatment of lentinan and the local thermotherapy with radiof requency for malignant ascites. Methods 　Sixty-nine patient s with malignant ascites were randomly divided into two groups. In the t reated group, 35 patients underwent lentinan intraperitoneal perfusion and local radiof requency thermotherapy. 34 patients of the cont rol group received lentinan int raperitoneal perfusion only. Results 　The efficacy rate and KPS score in the treated group were significantly higher than those in the control group ( P < 0. 05) . Conclusion 　The combination of lentinan and the local thermotherapy with radiof requency improves the thera-peutic effect s for malignant ascites and patients quality of life, which is worth clinical application.
