Prognostic Factors in Primary Malignant Melanoma of the Oral Mucosa

  • Objective To study the prognostic factors in malignant melanoma of the oral mucosa. Methods The clinical and pathological data of 35 cases were analysed retrospectively. Results The five-year survival rate was 45% in stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ and 6.7% in stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ(P<0.01);38.9% in the non-nodular melanoma and 14.3% in the nodular melanoma(P<0.01);50% in those withinepithelium and 19.1% in those infringed submucosa(P<0.01);66.7% in the positive of lymphatic metastasis and 22.2% in the negative(P<0.01).
