A Clinical Study of Cachexia and its Relationship to Tumo r Necrosis Factor

Objective To explore the association between tumor necros is factor and cachexia. Methods 19 cancer patients with cachexia and 17 healthy individuals were treated with durobolin.Comparisons were made in the b lood TNF-α,TP,Alb,body weight and KPS,before and after treatment,between the t wo groups. Results The level of serum TNF-α in cancer group was sig ni ficantly higher than that of control group before treatment (P＜0.01).Afte r treatment the level of serum TNF-α was decreased as compare to the level bef ore treatment(P＜0.01). Conclusion The results suggested that the mechanism of cachexia may be related to TNF-α.
