Changes of Glucose Metabolism,Insulin and C-peptide in L iver Cancer

  • Objective To investigate the characteristics of abonrmal glucose metabolism in Liver cancer,the changes of insulin(INS) and C-peptide (C -P) levels in peripheral blood,and the function of islet β-cell. Methods Tests of glucose tolerance,INS and C-P release were performed in 21 prim ary liver cancer patients and 20 normal control persons.The blood glucose(BG)、I NS and C-P levels at fasting and 2h after dinner were compared respectively. Results The levels of BG、INS and C-P at 2h after dinner were signific antly higher in liver cancer group than those in control (P<0.05),the ra tios of INS and C-P at 2h versus those before dinner were also significantly hi gher (P<0.05). Conclusion Main features of abnormal glucose me tabolism in Liver cancer were impaired glucose toleranle,hyper-insulinemia and hyper-c-peptidemia affter dinner might be due to compensatory hypersecretion o f islet β-cell.
