Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of Skp2 and p27 protein in breast cancer and their relationship with clinical feature. Methods Skp2 and p27 protein expression were evaluated in the tissues of 50 breast cancer as well as 12 normal breast using immunohistochemistry. Results The expression of Skp2 and p27 protein were significantly different between breast cancer and normal breast tissues ( P <0. 05) . High Skp2 and low p27 protein expression in breast cancer were significantly associated with late TNM stage, high incidence of axillary lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis ( P < 0. 05) . Tumor size, c-erbB-2, local recurrence were not significantly correlated with Skp2 expression level, but with p27 protein expression level. Skp2 expression was inversely correlated with p27 protein in breast cancer. Conclusion Skp2 and p27 protein might play important roles in the development and prognosis of human breast cancer. They may be taken to calculate the biological behavior and the prognosis of human breast cancer.
