Expression and Relativity of Rb,Rb2/p130 Gene in Osteosarcoma

  • Objective To evaluate the relationship between the expression of Rb and Rb2/p130 gene in osteosarcoma, and examine their possible effects on carcinogenesis and progression of osteosarcomas. Methods Sixty-two cases of osteosarcoma and 39 cases of osteochondroma and 51 cases of normal bone tissues were examined with the method of SP immunohistochemistry. Results The results of the study showed: 1. The expression rate of Rb, Rb2/p130 gene in osteosarcoma was respectively 38.71% and 27.42%, and in osteochondroma was respectively was 84. 62 % and 76. 92 %, and in normal bone tissue was respectively was 94. 12 % and 82. 35 %. 2. Both the expression rate of Rb and Rb2/ p130 gene in osteosarcoma was lower than that in osteochondroma and normal bone tissue ( P < 0. 01) . 3. There were no significant difference between the expression rates of Rb and Rb2/ p130 in osteochondroma and normal bone tissue ( P > 0. 05) . 4. There was significant positively correlations between the expression of Rb and Rb2/ p130 gene in osteosarcoma ( r = 0. 5265, P < 0. 01) . Conclusion These result s demonst rated low expression of Rb and Rb2/ p130 gene may involve in the carcinogenesis and the development of osteosarcoma and can reflect the malignant degree and prognosis of osteosarcoma.
