Toxicity of L-asparaginase to Pancreas in Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Non-hodgkin's Lymphoma

Objective 　To observe the toxicity of pancreas from L-asparaginase in childhood ALL and NHL. Methods 　One hundred and thirty-six cases ALL and NHL were treated with VDL P protocol.Their Amylase and glucose in blood and urine and lipase were inspected regularly. Results 　Twelve cases got toxicity on pancrease, 5 cases got acute pancreatitis and 5 had hyperglycemia ; 2 cases got the both. Conclusion 　Acute pancreatitis and hyperglycemia are serious damage of the pancreas caused by L-ASP and may be related to the patient s'age and the sex. Acute pancreatitis and hyperglycemia must be paid enough attention.
