Progress in Mesothelin as Target for Cancer Specific Radionuclide Imaging

  • Mesothelin is a special-expressing receptor protein and highly expressed in many cancers, especially in pancreatic cancer(80%-85%). Mesothelin is only expressed on mesothelial cells of the peritoneal, pleural cavities and pericardium in normal tissues. We radiolabeled the anti-mesothelin antibodies with new nuclide, and various cancers can be specifically imaged by the new molecular imaging agents. It's important for the early diagnosis and therapy tracer of cancers. This review briefly probes mesothelin as a target for the treatment and diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and other tumors, and focuses on the nuclide-labeled anti-mesothelin molecular probes for specific radionuclide imaging.
