Advances of Autophagy in Osteosarcoma

  • Autophagy has become a hot issue in the field of cancer research as a mechanism of cell defense and stress regulation. Autophagy abnormal is related to energy metabolism, cell death, inflammatory response and drug resistance in malignant tumor. New breakthrough has not been achieved in the overall survival of osteosarcoma (OS) in the past 20 years. Surgery combined with chemotherapy is still the most effective treatment for OS. Currently, several studies confirmed that autophagy is significantly related to the chemotherapy of OS. Therefore, we review the advances of autophagy in OS.
