‘Phoenix Rising' Pathway on Tumor Recurrence and Metastasis

After cancer chemotherapy or radiation, some apoptosis or necrosis executor proteins in dying cells could initiate tumor recurrence of the remaining cells by releasing large amounts of inflammatory mediators to tumor microenvironment. This ‘Phoenix rising' phenomenon hints that the mainstay strategies inducing tumor cells death exist the potential defects. Therefore, investigating the initiating factors of ‘Phoenix Rising'pathway and further elucidating new mechanism of tumor recurrence and metastasis would provide new ideas for tumor prevention and treatment
