Review on Researches of TFF3 as Tumor Biomarker

  • Trefoil factor 3(TFF3) is one member of trefoil factor family, and it has been closely related to tumor growth and progression, contributing to the invasion, metastasis and angiogenesis of the tumor. As a tumor biomarker, TFF3 has higher sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of gastric cancer than the biomarker pepsinogen(PG), and it is a promising biomarker for the non-invasive screening of gastric cancer. Moreover, TFF3 is the factor for chemotherapy evaluation and poor prognosis of gastrointestinal cancer. Additionally, TFF3 has a great value for the pathological diagnosis of endometrioid adenocarcinoma and thyroid microinvasive follicular carcinoma. As a novel and promising tumor biomarker, TFF3 would play a great role in the molecular diagnosis, targeted and personalized therapy of cancer.
