Application Progress of Helical Tomotherapy in Central Nervous System Neoplasms

  • Helical tomotherapy(HT) is the most advanced radiation-therapy system in the world currently, with 6MV medical lineal accelerator moving in the way of spiral scanning as spiral CT, which can fulfill radiating in the maximum range of 40cm×160 cm. HT has integrated the function of intensity-modulated radiation therapy(IMRT), image guide radiation therapy(IGRT), adaptive radiotherapy(ART) and dose guide radiation therapy(DGRT). HT has been applied in the treatment of central nervous system neoplasms. It can satisfy the need of precise radiotherapy, dose homogeneity and effectively sparing the OAR(organ at risk). This article is to review the application progress of HT in central nervous system neoplasms.
