Abstract
Objective To observe the expression of Fascin and Wnt5a in epithelial ovarian cancer and explore the correlation. Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to assess the expression of Fascin and Wnt5a in 20 cases of normal ovarian tissues, 16 cases of benign ovarian tumors,18 cases of borderline ovarian tumors and 79 cases of epithelial ovarian cancer. Results The expression of Fascin protein in epithelial ovarian cancer was significantly lower than those in normal ovarian, benign ovarian and borderline ovarian tumor (P<0.01). The expression of Wnt5a protein was closely related with histopathological grading (P <0.01), clinical stage (P<0.01) and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05). The expression of Fascin and Wnt5a in epithelial ovarian cancer was negatively correlated (P=0.000,r=-0.526). Conclusion Fascin and Wnt5a may play important roles in the occurrence, development and prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer.
