Abstract
Objective To investigate the serum expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and healthy people, as well as its relationship with clinical pathological features such as tumor differentiation, clinical stage, distant metastasis, etc. Methods The serum expression of MMP-9 and bFGF in NSCLC and healthy people were measured by ELISA and processed by statistics. Results The serum expression of MMP-9 and bFGF in NSCLC were significantly higher than that in healthy people (P<0.01), and the levels of MMP-9 and bFGF were significantly different among different stage tumor size, metastasis status, and the degree of differentiation (all P<0.05). However, there were no significant difference among different age, gender, smoking history, tumor pathological type(all P>0.05). Moreover, under person test, the serum of MMP-9 was found to be significantly associated with that of bFGF (r=0.807,P<0.01). Conclusion MMP-9 and bFGF may take part in the progress of lung cancer, and can be used as clinical monitoring of disease indicators.
