Expression and Clinical Significance of M2 Tumor-associated Macrophage in Pancreatic Carcinoma

  • Objective To investigate the expression of M2 tumor-associated macrophage in pancreatic cancer and its clinical significance. Methods The proteins of CD68 and CD163 in 50 cases of pancreatic carcinoma were detected with immunohistochemical staining, and the relationship between CD68 or CD163 and clinicopathological features of pancreatic cancer were analyzed. Results Proteins expression of CD68 and CD163 in pancreatic cancer tissues were 84% and 76%,respectively.There was no significant correlation between the expression of CD68 or CD163 protein with the age, gender, tumor location and the degree of differentiation in patients with pancreatic cancer(P>0.05).However,there was significant correlation between the expression of CD68 or CD163 protein with tumor size, lymph node metastasis, venous invasion and clinical staging (P<0.05). Conclusion M2 tumor-associated macrophage is wide infiltration expressed in pancreatic cancer, and it may promote the development of pancreatic cancer.
