Expression of PTTG in Normal Mucosa, Adenoma and Colorectal Carcinoma

ObjectiveTo explore the role of PTTG expression in the occurrence and development of colorectal carcinoma. MethodsRT-PCR technique was used to examine mRNA expression of PTTG and immunohistochemical staining was used to examine protein expression of PTTG in 20 cases of normal mucosa, 20 cases of adenoma and 80 cases of colorectal carcinoma tissues. ResultsExpression of PTTG at mRNA and protein appeared an upward tendency in the order from normal mucosa and adenoma to colorectal carcinoma and the differences was significant between any two groups(P<0.01). Expression of PTTG at mRNA and protein was also positively correlated with depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis(P<0.05 and P<0.01,respectively). Conclusion The high expression of PTTG may play an important role in the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer.
