Abstract
ObjectiveTo establish a skeletal metastasis model of small cell lung cancer, and evaluate the prognosis role of serum cross-linked N-telopeptide of typeⅠcollagen(NTx) in disodium clodronate against skeletal metastasis. MethodsA skeletal metastasis model was established by injection of small cell lung carcinoma line(SCLC) H446 cells and disodium clodronate was given to the animals once radiologically osteolytic metastasis was observed. Both X-ray and histological assay were applied to diagnose the bone metastasis. The levels of serum NTx were measured by using ELISA. ResultsBoth X-ray and histological assay showed markedly bone injuries after injection cells into the right leg of nude mice. The level of serum NTx in the nude mice with bone metastasis was significantly higher than those without bone metastasis (P<0.01), and it was also significantly different in the nude mice with disodium clodronate. ConclusionSerum NTx played a biomarker role of bone metastasis with malignant carcinoma through a timely diagnosis. Disodium clodronate might be an appropriate treatment of bone metastasis.
