Quantitative Analysis of Expression of TIMPs in Colorectal Cancer

Objective To evaluate the relation between the expression of TIMPs and the metastasis of colorectal cancer. Methods Aretrospective review was made of the expression of TIMP-1，TIMP-2 in paraffin-embedded specimens form 45 patients with colorectal cancer using immunohistochemical method.And the expression of cancers' and the mesenchyma tissues' was analyzed respectively using an image quantification analysis system.Finally,the relationshop between the expression of TIMPs and the potential metastasis ability of colorectal cancer was analyzed. Results The expression of TIMP-1 in tumorous cells was significantly higher than that of in mesenchymal tissues(P<0.01) and than the expression of TIMP-2 in tumorous cells(P<0.01).The TIMP-2 expression of cancerous area was significantly higher in negative vessel involved group than that of vessel involved group(P<0.01).Furthermore,Both the TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 expressions of cancerous area were significantly higher in adenoma group than that of in cancer group(P<0.01). Conclusion s The expression of TIMPs was relative to metastasis of colorectal tumor.
