Abstract
Objective Explore the effect of placement with covered self-expanding metallic stent for cancerous esophageal stricture and occlusion. Methods 23 stents were implanted in all 23 patients with cancerous esophageal stricure and occlusion since 1995.There were 9 cases complicated with esophagotracheal fistula in all 23 patients.The patients were followed up 1~9 months. Results 22 stents were successfully implanted at first time except for 1 case.Food intake ability of 22 patients was improved and clinical symptoms of fistula were relieved in 9 patients. Conclusion The placement of cancerous esophageal stricture and occlusion as well as improving the survival quality of the late esophageal carcinoma patients.
