The Clinical Analysis of 25 Cases of Supratentorial Parenchymal Ependymomas

Objective 　To discuss the clinical feature, treatment and prognosis of supratentorial parenchymal ependymomas. Methods 　25 cases of patient s suffered from supratentorial parenchymoma were treated. There was ependymoma in 14 cases, subependymoma in 2 cases, and malignant ependymoma in 7 cases. Results 　All the cases were operated on. 20 cases were received radical surgical removal, 5 cases partial removal. 17 patients are being alive for at least three years, among them 12 patients being alive for five years, 2 patients being alive for ten years. Conclusion 　Supratentorial parenchymal ependymomas can be cured by radical surgery, radiotherapy is indicated in cases of malignant ependymoma and partial excision ependymomas.
