Abstract
Objective To investigate the relation and clinical significance between CA125 expression level and immunological state of patient s with ovarian cancer. Methods The concent ration of serum CA125 and the percentage of CD3+ 、CD4+ and N K+ cells (CD3- / CD(16 - 56)+ ) were measured in peripheral blood cells f rom 45 patient s with ovarian cancer by EL ISA and flow cytomet ry. Results The concent ration of serum CA125 in patient s with ovarian cancer was significantly higher than that of normal cont rol ( P <0. 01) . The percentage of CD3+ 、CD4 + and NK+ cells of patient s with ovarian cancer were significantly lower than those of normal cont rol ( P < 0. 01 or P < 0. 05) . The correlation analysis showed that the concent ration of serum CA125 were negatively correlated to CD3+ 、CD4+ and N K+ cells percentage ( r1 =- 0. 959, P < 0. 01 ; r2 = - 0. 932, P < 0. 05 ; r3 = - 0. 912, P < 0. 05) . The gradually increasing of serum CA125 concent ration and the gradually decreasing of CD3+ 、CD4+, and NK+ cells percentage were with increasing of clinical stages on patients with ovarian cancer . Serum CA125 concent ration of patient s with metastasis was higher than that of patient s with non2metastasis ( P < 0. 01) . The percentage of CD3+ 、CD4+ and NK+ cells of patient s with metastasis were lower than those of patient s with non-metastasis ( P< 0. 05) . Conclusion Ovarian cancer may induce significant increasing of the concent ration of serum CA125 and may induce significant decreasing of percentage of CD3, CD4 and NK cells. There is a much closed relationship between the concent ration of serum CA125 and the immunological state of patients as well as the clinical biological behaviours of patient s with ovarian cancer.
