Abstract
Objective To study the detection and metastasis rate of interpectoral nodes in breast cancer and its clinical significance. Methods One hundred and seventy one patient s with breast cancer were reviewed, which were subject to pathological examination of the interpectoral nodes. Results The detection rate of interpectoral nodes is 25. 7 %, and the metastasis rate is 9. 9 %. The patient s with interpectoral node metastases had larger tumors, later TNM classification, higher axillary apical nodes metastasis rate and lower ER positive rate. Conclusion IPNs should be cleared routinely and subjected to pathological examination separately in modified radical mastectomy, which was very important to enactment of treatment plan and estimation of prognosis.
