Expression of TGF-βRⅡand Smad4 in Uveal Melanoma

  • Objective 　To investigate the expression of TGF-βR Ⅱand it s downst ream Smad4 in uveal melanoma. Methods 　Immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the expression of TGF-βR Ⅱand Smad4 in 24 cases of paraffin embedded uveal melanoma samples. Results 　In all the 24 cases of uveal melanoma specimens, TGF-βR Ⅱis expressed positive in 12/ 24 ; Smad4 is found positive in 11/ 24cases, there are 5 cases expressing both TGF-βR Ⅱand smad4. Conclusion 　Abnormal TGF-β1 signal pathway is common in uveal melanoma, which may cont ribute to the formation of uveal melanoma.
